Majors in Political Science are required to choose 12 hours in a specialized track or "area of emphasis".  Drawing upon 3000-4999 level courses (not taken in other areas of the major), majors are able to gain more in-depth training in an area that will equip them for their future career and/or advanced education in graduate or law school.  These specialized tracks fall into five general areas:

Other Requirements

  1. Minimum 120 semester hours are required.  Wellness and First Year seminar or Orientation classes do not count toward the minimum 120 semester hours.
  2. A minimum of 39 semester hours overall must be at the 3000-4000 level.
  3. A grade of C or better must be earned in each course that counts toward major requirements and in the senior capstone.
  4. The first-year academic seminar must be completed with a satisfactory grade. Students who transfer to GC are exempt from this requirement.
