ARTS 3200 Photography II

Prerequisites: ARTS 2200. Photography is taught as a medium for self-exploration and self-expression. The course emphasizes the art making process, in which photographic images/concepts are discussed within a social/historical, genre specific, aesthetic, and technical context. The course covers an introduction to the Zone System, Sabbatier Effect, print toning, bleaching, hand coloring, and the Cyano-type process. The course will explore the traditions of the photographic narrative. In addition to studio work, students will engage in written historical research related to photography.
