Teacher Education Department
The Department of Teacher Education offers the following graduate degree programs:
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) with a major in Middle Grades Education;
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) with a major in Secondary Teacher Education with concentrations in:
- Art
- Biology
- Business Education
- Chemistry
- English
- French
- Physical/Health Education
- History
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Political Science
- Spanish
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) with a major in Special Education;
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a major in Early Childhood Education;
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a major in Middle Grades Education
- Master of Education (M.Ed.) with a major in Special Education;
- Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) with a major in Education with concentrations in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Middle Grades Education
- Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) with a major in Special Education.
- Non-degree Endorsement
Certification
- Students successfully completing the Middle Grades M.A.T. program for initial certification may be recommended for a level five (T5) Georgia Teacher's Certificate (4-8).
- Students completing the M.Ed. with a concentration in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education may request level five (T5) certification through their school boards or directly through the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (Ga PSC).
- Students completing the Ed.S. in Education with concentrations in Early Childhood or Middle Grades Education may request level six (T6) certification through their school boards or directly through the Ga PSC.
- The M.A.T. in Secondary Education (grades 6-12) program provides preparation for initial level 5 Georgia Teacher’s Certificate (T5).
- Students successfully completing the M.A.T. in Special Education program for initial certification may be recommended for a level five (T5) Georgia Teacher’s Certificate (P-12).
- Students completing the M.Ed. in Special Education may request level five certification through their school boards or directly to the PSC
- Students completing the Ed.S. in Special Education may request level six certification through their school boards or directly to the PSC.
