Degree Requirements
A student can choose to pursue a European Studies concentration within the Liberal Studies major at any time in her/his college career, although students are advised to declare their major early in order to ensure a timely completion of their degree program.
Areas A- E (see Core section of this Catalog) (42 semester hours)
Area F (18 semester hours)
Interdisciplinary Methods (3 semester hours)
Choose one of the following courses:
Theory Methods Focus (12 semester hours)
Choose 12 hours from the following list:
(Note: Students may take courses not listed below with the approval of the advisor.)
Students may choose either IDST 2305 or IDST 2310 if not taken as Interdisciplinary Methods Course.
Foreign Language Requirement (3 semester hours)
Students must demonstrate minimum proficiency at the level of the fourth university course (2002) in one foreign language, but only the fourth university course (2002) can count in Area F. Any hours not applied in Area F may be applied toward elective hours.
Major Requirements (27-28 semester hours)
A student can choose to pursue a European Studies track within the Liberal Studies major at any time in her/his college career, although students are advised to declare their major early in order to ensure a timely completion of their degree program.
Students are strongly recommended to take the Methods course in the year prior to the year of graduation.
Fine Arts (3 semester hours)
Choose 1 (minimum 3 semester hours) course from the following:
Literature and Philosophy (9 semester hours)
Choose 3 courses (9 minimum semester hours) from the following:
History and Politics (9 semester hours)
Choose 3 courses (9 minimum semester hours) from the following:
Additional Requirement (3 semester hours)
Choose an additional 3 semester hours among the Major courses listed in the Fine Arts, Literature, or History and Politics areas above.
Capstone (3-4 semester hours)
An appropriate 4000-level course will be chosen in consultation with the advisor that will additionally include a senior research paper/project
OR
an appropriate Study Abroad course taken in consultation with the advisor.
Electives (5-15 semester hours)
Electives will vary by student because of various credits needed for foreign language requirement.
