NRSG 3340 Intro to Profession of Nursing

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the nursing major. The discipline of nursing's approach to problem-solving is introduced. The Health Care System, Nursing Process, Communication, Teaching/Learning, Gerontology, and Community-Based Care are the course's focus.

This course is an overview of electronic information related to health sciences. The focus of the course is the use of computer and technology-based health applications to support clinical, administrative, and educational decision-making. This course is taught entirely online.

NRSG 4100 Transition to Bacca Nrsg Pract

Prerequisite: Acceptance to RN-BSN program. This course explores the trends and issues related to nursing practice in the context of future baccalaureate role development. Professional knowledge and skills that help transition to baccalaureate practice, such as assimilating information literacy and computer literacy into practice, will be articulated. Incorporating these skills and knowledge in mentored experiences facilitate transition to baccalaureate nursing role. This course is taught entirely online. The clinical practice experience includes both direct and indirect application of didactic content and are designed to meet course outcomes.  These clinical practice experiences are facilitated by a mentor and supervised and evaluated by the course faculty.

NRSG 4140 Nursing Research

Prerequisite: MATH 2600 with a grade of C or higher, NRSG 3140, NRSG 3240, NRSG 3340, NRSG 3540. Foundation upon which scientific investigations in the health care system are based and research methodologies are explored.

NRSG 4200 Reproductive Health

The foundations of Reproductive Health will be explored in terms of normal physiology and pathophysiology. Family planning will be critically appraised in terms of safety, effectiveness, convenience, patient education, access, expense, and personal preferences. History and physical assessment skills will be presented from a both feminist/male holistic viewpoint that emphasizes providing men and women's healthcare in a culturally sensitive manner.

This course focuses on the influence of law, legal and ethical issues on professional nursing practice. Through seminar, written and oral presentations, students apply legal concepts within an ethical framework. RN students only. The course is taught entirely on line.

The RN student will explore family dynamics and various issues encountered in caring for clients in the community. NRSG 4981 Integrated Clinical Concepts

Prerequisite: All nursing courses except NRSG 4780 and NRSG 4980. This is a companion course to NRSG 4980, the capstone course in nursing. Students apply critical thinking, communication, and therapeutic nursing interventions to decisions about simulated clients to demonstrate readiness for the mock and actual NCLEX-RN.
