Black Studies Minor

The minor in Black Studies provides students the opportunity to learn about the African American experience in the United States from an interdisciplinary perspective. Students will additionally engage with the cultures of the black world including Africa and the Black Diaspora in the United States of America, Brazil and the Caribbean.
Minor Requirements
NOTE: A grade of C or higher is required in all AFST/BLST courses.
Required Courses
Satisfactorily complete one (1) the following courses:
AFST 2010 | Intro to African Studies | 3 |

BLST 2010 | Introduction to Black Studies | 3 |
Total Credit Hours: | 3 |
Elective Courses
Satisfactorily complete 12 hours from courses with a AFST or BLST subject prefix.
At least 9 hours should be at the 3000-4000 level.
Additional Minor Requirements
- Satisfactorily complete all minor requirements listed in the academic policies section of this catalog.
- Earn a grade of C or higher in all minor courses.
- Courses in the minor may not be used to satisfy other major or minor requirements.
