Graduate Catalog 2022-2023

Management Information Systems M.M.I.S. (Online)

Mission

The Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS) program at Georgia College has been awarding quality degrees since 1989.  Georgia College offers the only graduate management information systems program in middle Georgia.  The MMIS degree is designed to prepare students for a position in designing, implementing and managing corporate information resources or serving as a liaison between a functional area and a centralized IT office.  The curriculum aligns with the required knowledge for the CISA exam, making the MMIS degree a smart choice for individuals interested in a career in IT auditing as well.

The online format of the Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS) program builds in a non-required premium support hour for each class. The time (7:30-8:30 eastern) and night is listed with the class in the registration information. The student premium support hour allows you to interact virtually with your professor and other students in attendance. This enables you to proactively get your questions and concerns answered without requiring you to attend.

Our students have undergraduate degrees from all majors and work in different functional areas.  You do not need an undergraduate degree in a technology field to select the MMIS degree.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Master of Management Information Systems (MMIS) program is limited to holders of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution. It is expected that admission will be granted only to students showing high promise of success in graduate study. The candidate's performance on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and the candidate's undergraduate work will be used to determine admission status.

GMAT/GRE waivers may be considered for prospective graduate business students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • A prior advanced degree (Master’s, Doctorate, or Specialist) from a regionally accredited institution

  • Significant, full-time professional work experience

  • A  minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 from a regionally accredited institution

Applicants must file a petition to be considered for a GMAT/GRE waiver.  Please contact the Graduate Admissions Recruiter for a copy of the GMAT/GRE waiver petition guidelines.

Applicants may enter any semester; however, a fall or spring semester start is strongly recommended due to the course rotation. Admission is granted after meeting the admission standards.
