English Minor

Federal financial aid will not pay for a minor course unless that course is also necessary to complete the 120 hours required for a degree or the 39 hours of required upper-level credit.  Contact Financial Aid if you have questions about your federal aid eligibility.

Elective Courses

Satisfactorily complete four additional ENGL courses, all with a grade of C or better.  Three of these courses must be at the 3000-4000 level.

Additional Minor Requirements

Satisfactorily complete all minor requirements listed in the academic policies section of this catalog.

Earn a grade of C or better in all minor courses.

Courses taken in Areas A or C of the core curriculum cannot also count toward the minor. Students who have used one or two of the 2000-level ENGL courses to fulfill Area C requirements may replace the 2000-level ENGL course(s) in the minor with any 2000-4000 level elective course(s).

Students may take courses for the minor in any combination of the three concentrations in the Department of English (Literature, Creative Writing, or Film, Media, and Culture), but they should understand that some English courses have prerequisites and are designed to be taken in sequence.
