Undergraduate Catalog 2024-2025

Geographic Information Science Certificate

Information about the Department of History and Geography can be found on the department page.

Geographic Information Science (GISc) involves the application of spatial information and mapping technologies to solving complex problems which exist over space.  Since most human pursuits and environmental events of interest occur on the surface of Earth, GISc applies to many fields of academic inquiry, from geography and ecology to marketing, sociology, public health, and political science.

Undergraduate certificates may only be earned and will only be awarded in conjunction with a bachelor's degree. They will not be awarded as an independent credential. In addition, federal financial aid will not pay for a certificate course unless that course is also necessary to complete the 120 hours required for a degree or the 39 hours of required upper-level credit. Contact Financial Aid if you have questions about your federal aid eligibility.
